What’s the Quebec City Winter Carnival?

The Quebec City Winter Carnival (Carnaval de Quebec) is an annual winter festival held in Quebec City, the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is one of the largest winter festivals in the world and attracts thousands of visitors from all over the globe.

This year’s winter festival will take place from February 3rd to 12th, 2023 and features a wide range of activities and events, including ice sculptures, snow baths, sleigh rides, ice skating, and more. One of the most popular attractions at the carnival is the Bonhomme, the festival's official mascot who is dressed in traditional French-Canadian attire.

Other highlights of the carnival include the night parades, which feature floats and performers illuminated by colorful lights, and the International Ice Sculpture Competition, which sees teams of sculptors from around the world compete to create the most impressive ice sculptures.
